The millions each country earned at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Prior to the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) increased prize money by 40%, not only for the triumphant team but also for earnings at every stage.

Ivory Coast emerged victors at the edition after a narrow 2-1 victory over Nigeria on Sunday for their third AFCON title.

In winning the prestigious trophy, the Elephants were awarded a staggering USD 7,000,000 (over 26 billion shillings) as prize money.

Nigeria, who were the runners-up, stayed upright, as their prize money was an impressive rise to USD 4,000,000 (about 15 billion shillings).

Furthermore, the stakes rose up for the semifinalists, with each team at this stage securing USD 2,500,000 (over nine billion shillings).

The four quarterfinalists also enjoy an increased reward, with USD 1,300,000 (about five billion shillings) allocated to each of them.

The teams that finished in the group stages, including four-time champions Ghana, were awarded USD 500,000 (about 1.9 billion shillings).
